The Elephant Parade is a huge open air art exhibition of decorated elephant statues that travels around the globe to attract public awareness and support for Asian elephant conservation. Australian artist Chris Chun drew upon his love of vintage kimono fabric design when he painted Kiku for the exhibition. Chris did an amazing job on his first 3D ‘canvas’ – all 10 square metres of it! Kiku is so beautiful, bright and painstakingly detailed.
These photos were taken in Chris’s studio in Chiang Mai, Thailand where he currently lives. Chris is a very successful artist who, in his words, ‘celebrates the joy in life’. I’m sure you’re going to love having a glimpse into Chris’s creative life in one of my upcoming Space to Create posts. He really is living the dream!
Head to Chris’s Facebook album for more photos of the process of painting Kiku.
The Elephant Parade opens in the UK next month before travelling to Luxemburg and the US.
