Hello! How have you been? You might have been wondering why I haven’t posted any craft tutorials over the past few weeks, or why my posting hasn’t been as consistent as usual. The reason is that we have just returned from an amazing four week holiday to Scandinavia and London. If you follow me on Instagram you would be up to date with my travels, but I worked hard to write and schedule blog posts in advance so it would be as close as possible to business as usual here on the red thread while I was away. Although it was impossible for me to put the time into doing any craft tutorials in advance. In saying that I hope my absence hasn’t been too noticeable!
Four weeks not crafting (except a small amount of crochet) has left me itching to get back into it. I’m seriously missing being creative and I have a sketchbook full of ideas to bring to fruition, so I’m busy scheduling the next month with plenty of time to get making, and to create tutorials for you. I’ll also share some highlights of our trip – including the cities, beautiful design stores, and breathtaking nature – in the coming weeks.
Amazingly, I won the holiday! So now you know someone who has actually won one of those ’25 words or less’ competitions. I’d never entered anything like that before, so I feel super lucky. The competition was for Ecco shoes and all I had to do was answer the question “Why would you like to win a trip to Scandinavia?’. I got to plan our all-expenses-paid itinerary and we visited Copenhagen, did a driving trip in Denmark including a visit to Ecco HQ in Tonder and Legoland, Oslo, the Norwegian countryside including the magnificent fjords, Bergen, on to Stockholm in Sweden, and finally London in a heatwave. As you can imagine, Scandinavia was design heaven for me. I had been before – as a backpacking twenty-something – and loved it, and this trip just reinforced my love of their renowned aesthetic.
It truly was a trip of a lifetime, and I’ll look forward to sharing some highlights with you. In the meantime here are some snippets.

The photos from top to bottom are: Copenhagen (a fave city of mine); one of the incredible design shops we visited; the masterpiece that is the Oslo Opera House; a rainy day in Bergen; the breathtaking Norwegian fjords; the streets of London; an installation in Anthropologie – I finally got to visit!
Once we get our sleeping patterns back into the right time zone and school resumes on Tuesday I’ll be able to get into the swing of things here and in the coming weeks I’ll have some great new craft tutorials and inspiring finds to share. My appologies that I haven’t been replying to your comments, but I’ll get onto to that now I’m home. I feel rejuvenated and ready to go… my head is buzzing with ideas and possibilities. And probably with lack of sleep and jet lag too!
