Leslie Oschmann of Swarm is an American artist and designer who now calls Amsterdam home. Leslie trawls European markets in search of objects she can manipulate, recreate and bring new life to, resulting in beautiful one-of-a-kind bespoke pieces. With Leslie’s consideration, her artful combination of materials, and her design skills, she creates stunning functional art that is more than the sum of its parts.
A new collection of Leslie’s one-off tote bags has just landed at Anthropologie and is available exclusively online. Unwanted oil paintings are reinvented as unique designer bags, complete with hand and machine stitching, leather handles and cotton lining. Lush, thick fringing marks a new direction for Leslie’s totes, adding a new dimension and texture which is on trend with the ’70s-style textile treatments we’re seeing in fashion and homewares.
