Happy Belated Bastille Day, France. We might have missed the boat on that one this week, but we’ll try to make amends by showcasing the astonishing work of French photographer Bernard Tartinville.
Evocative of 18th century paintings, Tartinville’s richly-layered and sumptuous photography recalls the decadence and excess of Marie Antoinette. In fact, you could easily mistake his work for Rococo portraiture. Or a mad fashion shoot conjured up by Grace Coddington. Wouldn’t that make a great collaboration? We should get them to hook up! (Grace, meet Bernard. Bernard, meet Grace. Now go have fun, you crazy kids.)
