The concept of ‘Hotel as Home’ has been artfully embraced by spaceagency architects and interior designers Arent & Pyke at Perth’s Alex Hotel. The hotel, in the cultural heart of the city, emphasizes home with inviting, comfortable communal spaces and visual nods to domesticity and craft.
The interiors came to life around the idea of a fictional Alex: “someone familiar to us all; an uncle whose home you love to visit, a treasured old friend with a house full of wonderment. The interior design, furnishing and styling imagines the richness, the personality, a sense of frivolity and the layering of a story.”
Knotted rugs, warm timbers and piles of cushions in the lounge areas make them warm homely spaces – intimate yet shared. There are nooks for reading, piles of books and magazines, shelves filled with beautifully styled objet, together with art and bespoke furniture. It’s the attention to these details that allows us to connect with the concept of the fictional character Alex.

The Alex Hotel invites you to stretch out, relax, discover and connect, and the thoughtful, beautifully styled spaces are conducive to exactly that.
