The perfect statement armchair in barely-there-pink velvet came into my life this week from West Elm. And it changed our whole living room.
We’re lucky to have big north west facing windows in the room, so the winter sun – low in the sky – streams in for most of the day. There’s nothing like sitting next to a window soaking up the winter rays to warm your bones, so it seemed like the ideal place for the chair. I created a little nook with a grouping of potted plants, together with my pom pom wall hanging and a throw to add tone and texture.
The stunning simplicity of the brushed gold frame makes this chair elegantly chic, and given the space to shine, it has become the new focal point of the room.
When you add a single statement piece to a room – like this chair, an amazing rug, or large scale art – you can reconfigure your existing furniture around it. The new addition becomes the hero and the focus, and the room gets a whole new lease of life as a result.
Creating the new nook prompted me to give the whole room a spring (winter) clean – everything came off the shelves and I gave all the ornate skirting boards and the windows a good clean. Then I rearranged the gallery wall and moved the dining table! Followed by a cup of tea in the sun.
The brushed matt gold frame combined with lush soft pink velvet cushions makes this armchair a standout… and a sellout. It’s been super popular and West Elm have just restocked it, so if you have your eye on it now is the time to stop coveting and start clicking.
